faux finish finished

well it's been a few weeks since my show, and i'm still reeling from the excitement and exhaustion from the epic install (thank you to my all my heroes that day, but especially to lisa, for being the best thesis-maid a girl could ask for, my super duo, A + A, for helping out yet again, and to my mom and dad for slaving away the entire day/night/weekend), my opening reception and the ensuing fun-filled family/friends weekend, my orals, the equally epic deinstall (thank you again to my heroes, andy and andrea), and then the post-grad-post-show slump/life insanity that has unfurled the past couple of weeks.  but that's another tale....

finally, here are some photos from the show and a some of my faves from install and the reception.  more shots can be seen here and here.  and more details of the individual pieces are still to come, as well as the statement that goes with the exhibition.

(the first nine photos are by the amazing jim escalante)

print no more

i printed my last piece for my show yesterday morning!!!!!  still plenty to do, but the work is finished.  i've been floating on a cloud of bliss for the past 24 hours, but now i'm back to my studio trying to assess and develop a game plan for the final week.  the forecast for next thursday (the day i move my work over to the gallery) shows rain, and i'm trying not to hyperventilate...trying hard.

andrea and amelia

two of my closest friends from my cohort had their mfa shows last weekend, and the only word to describe both shows is EXQUISITE.  i am so intensely proud of them and was totally overcome with emotion at their opening!  here are some shots of their shows:

"exchanges and returns," new work by andrea g. miller

"capsized," new work by amelia toelke:

success!!!!!

my first attempt at basic electrical work = booyah

all it took was multiple consults with friends, a prolonged advice session with a patient hardware store employee, a skype session with my dad, and much hand wringing worrying about being electrocuted, but it works!
